People are stupid, present company included

I got to tell you, I love reading the Bible. Some of you just tuned out, but stay with me. I have people tell me that they don’t like the Bible because it is to difficult to understand. Some others say that it is so full of rules and regulation that it is impossible to live by.

When I read the Bible, particulary the OT, I get a whole other story. One that shows how stupid, ignorant, moronic, evil, idolotraus, adulterous, slandering, lying cheating people we all are. But God still uses us.

I read Psalms 78 this morning. It talks about how God delivered the Israelites. He led them by a pillar of fire by night, and a cloud by day. A PILLAR OF FIRE! Bread fell from the sky. Water came from rocks, food from heaven. And they still forgot.

Psalms 78:36-37
“Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied to him with their tounges. For their heart was not right with him, neither were they stead fast in his covenant.”

God led by a pillar of fire, and bread fell from heaven. But still they lied. They forgot. They didn’t hold up their end of the bargain.

Now the good news. God still used them. He still delivered them. Abraham was a liar, Jacob a thief and extremely manipulative. David an adulterer, Peter just a general idiot. But God still used them. I love that about the Bible, how it shows me my wicked heart, and then shows me God still wants to use me. I love the Bible.

Hey! I didn't know I could leave comments here! Wow! I love reading the Bible too! Who knew you could learn so much about God by reading the Bible? I am so excited for your baby girl! I am pretty sure that I screamed or something when I saw it.
Yeah, i know. Anywho, about my life changing experience...I would rather email you or something.
And one more thing...you aren't going to Collide are you? It is a Christian music festival in Sherman TX. Thought I would ask!
Have a great day.

i just want to say thank you for saying what i've been struggling with lately: God still wants to use me in spite of me being me. That's what makes God God and the rest of us holding on to Him for dear life because one day we will meet Him and thank Him for being God true to His word. Halleliuah!

Sorry to comment on an old post, but I started in on Jeremiah this morning. What a depressing read! And yet, with all the bad things, Israel is still God's chosen people—the people through whom God's promises were fulfilled. And, there's those Scriptures in Romans 11...

Anyway, I love the Bible too! It is encouraging, just for those reasons you mentioned.
