The path not taken
This week a memory popped up in my journal from several years ago. It was full of joy and anticipation at some things that were happening, that I just knew my life was going a certain direction. I chuckled as I read it, at my certainty of the future, because the future did not turn out that way at all. And today I'm thankful that God had another plan for me.
That's only one example out of hundreds where I was certain I knew what was going to happen in the future. Many times I had given God really earnest advice that I urged him to take, and let my life plan out the way I had hoped. Each of those times I was reminded later that God is in control not me.
You have probably made plans for your future, only to see them come crashing down. Sometimes it's a gentle tumble to the ground like a leaf falling from a tree, and sometimes it's sudden and catastrophic. The good news is that no matter how many times our plans fail, God’s plans never will.
Today you might feel certain about your future, or you might not know which way is up. Either way, God is still in control. Your life today isn't exactly how you would've planned it, but you have a heavenly father who loves you and wants what is best for you. Take rest that yesterday, today and tomorrow, you are always in his hands.
