Look for the light
I pulled over to take this picture on the drive home a few weeks ago. There had been stormy weather all week, and it was threatening to do it again. It seemed as if the sun was trying its hardest to shine in spite of the clouds around it. Even if the clouds looked ominous, the sun piercing through was a reminder that there is something greater than the storms up there.
That's true in our lives too of course. We all have stormy seasons of life, when it seems like the clouds never leave our view. In the midst of difficult times, it can be easy to forget that the sun is still up there, beyond our view. But if we take the time to stop and look, we can see the rays of grace piercing through the dark clouds everywhere. A conversation with a good friend, a warm meal, a prayer given on our behalf, a note in the mail, all of these are the rays of grace that make their way into our lives in the hardest moments.
More than that, those rays remind us that there is something greater than our dark clouds. When the storms come in our life, it's easy to feel like they will never leave. But the sun is always shining, no matter how dark the clouds may be for a moment. There are moments when we can feel the love of God in all it's intensity. But the love of God never falters or changes, even when we can't feel it or see it. Praise God for these moments that remind us of the overwhelming love of God that is greater than anything we face.
I don't know what the skies in your life look like right now. But I can promise you that if you take the time to look hard enough, you can see the rays of God's love piercing through. Pray for God to give you the strength to see, the wisdom to pull over and take a look, and the heart to remember all his blessings that come your way.
