April Showers
It's spring time, but you couldn't tell it by the weather here last week. It was rainy and cold most of the day, and the sun was not seen all day. They say that April showers bring May flowers, but what they really mean is you have to endure the dark rainy days to see the good fruits later.
That's true in our own lives too of course. Sometimes our lives might feel like the weather in Oklahoma. We think it's going to be a nice day, but it quickly takes a turn for the worse. We leave the house unprepared for what's going to happen that day. If you think the weather is hard to predict, then think about the way events unfold in our lives. Often the hardest and most tragic days start off just like all the others. We try to be prepared as we can, but we never know what life may bring.
The good news is of course that we don't have to guess when it comes to God. The Bible says that the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, that his mercies never come to an end. We never have to wonder what we are going to get when we come to God. When our lives are unstable, we know we can count on our heavenly father.
One of the best things we can do to steady our lives is to order our lives around the word of God and the people of God. Filling our hearts and minds with the scripture, and being encouraged by the body of believers through Sunday worship is one of the simplest ways we can add steadiness to our lives.
There is no way of knowing for sure what's going to come our way each day, whether it's triumphs or tragedies. We never know what our day is going to hold, but we know that the God who holds our days can always be counted on.
